Research interests:

  • Multi-scale tribology
  • Coatings: hard coatings, self-lubricant coatings, carbon-based materials
  • Graphene and of 2D materials
  • Triboelectric phenomena

The research activity of SUP&RMAN is split in two parts: BASIC RESEARCH and APPLIED RESEARCH

In a Schottky junction the reciprocating motion generates a current related to the tribovoltaic effect.
The estimated power depends on the materials, on the applied load, on the sliding velocity, on the humidity.
The study of these systems open up to the developement of novel power generators

The synergistic effect of nano-objects (graphene, nanodiamonds, nano-scroll) together with C-based bulk materials (DLC) shows excellent properties in terms of extremely low friction and wear.
The simultaneous combination of graphene and nanodiamonds on a DLC substrate leads to a superlubricant regime in dry atmosphere.
